Our Emergency Plan
Throughout the year, the Health and Safety Committee will be sending home tips to help you prepare for any emergency that may arise.
Please look for a red folder, labeled “Our Emergency Plan” coming home with your child.
Read the information included with your family and put it in a place where each member of your family can access it should the need arise.
We will also send home a booklet called “Disaster Preparedness Coloring Book” which has a lot of information our children need to be aware of.
We have created a Discussion Forum to use to share ideas on how to prepare for emergencies.
For example, store the negatives of your traditional photographs and a CD or DVD backup of your digital pictures in a waterproof zip-lock bag, easy to tote and keeps the contents dry.
Please use this forum to post your own suggestions!
School's Evacuation Plans
-
The school has a plan for evacuation in case of a nuclear or similar emergency.
- Parents will be notified via the voice mail and news media of where to meet their children.
- Parents will not be allowed to come to school to pick up children in order to allow a quick, orderly evacuation away from school to the safe site (pickup place).
- There are plenty of buses assigned to our school in case of an evacuation emergency.
- The bus drivers all have Nextel radios so the school system can reach them anywhere, anytime. The school staff has a plan to move medications, etc. as well.
