Fall Festival
October 2006
Turner Creek families, planning for your Fall Festival is
underway! In an effort to make the 3rd annual Fall
Festival on Saturday, Oct. 28 the best one yet, your
festival committee is looking for the following donations
and ideas.
For our Games and Activities we need the use of three
Twister games, finger nail polish in any color, bag
decorating supplies (to include pompoms, glitter, glue,
markers, feathers and beads), the use of a Little Tykes
adjustable basketball hoop, white sheets and/or cheese
cloth that can be ripped into strips for bandages, and
1Ú2-cakes and cupcakes (drop off date to be
announced) for the Cake Walk.
For the Bake Sale/Farmers Market we are looking for
home canned jams, jellies, chili sauces, home grown
herbs, vegetables, mixes in a jar, etc. A separate flyer
will go out announcing the dates for dropping off bake
goods.
The General Store needs the donation of gently used
toys, games, books and videos. Please NO stuffed
animals. We are also trying to introduce "penny candy"
jars so the donation of such jars and bulk candy found
at BJ's and Sam's, for example, would be appreciated.
Miscellaneous: We are looking for youth groups from
local churches that need to perform community hours.
We are also looking for theme-related entertainment
for
the festival. If you know anyone who can play a fiddle,
square dance or shoe a horse and who might be willing
to share this with our kids, please have them get in touch
with us. A step van or large truck and people to fill it is
needed to go to the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh on
Sunday night, Oct. 22 (around 11pm) and collect the hay
bales, cornstalks, etc., left over from the fair. We are also
looking for someone interested in taking the hay, etc.
after our festival is over. And lastly, for now, is DADS. We
need all you grill aficionados to give us an hour or two of
your time to man the burger grill the day of the festival.
Your Fall Festival Committee thanks you for your support
and hopes you come out to enjoy this yearÕs festival.
Should you wish to donate any of the above items or
have questions or concerns, feel free to contact Amy
Oathout, Fall Festival Chair, or call 367-0235.
