2006-2007 Reflections Program Theme is
"My favorite place"
This year we had eleven students submit fourteen
projects to the Reflections Program. The theme was
"My Favorite Place." All qualifying entries moved on to
the Wake County Council Level on January 9 for further
judging. Results from the local (school) level and the
council level will be announced to participants in late
January and listed in the March Ribbit Report. All
projects are currently on display in the TCE media
center.
Congratulations to all participants for taking this
opportunity to complete this voluntary, individual
project. Your great initiative and creativity make all of
you winners!
January 2007
We had fourteen entries into the Reflections Program this year: five Photography, three Literature, five Visual
Arts entries, and one Film/Video production.
Qualifying entries will move on to the next level of judging, the Wake County Council Level, on January 9.
Local Level winners will be announced later in January, and Council Level winners will be announced in
February. All entries will be displayed in the TCE media center.
Congratulations to the students who participated for
completing this independent project. Your answers to
"My Favorite Place" were very creative. Your hard work
and initiative represent the kind of spirit we see at
Turner Creek Elementary. We are very proud of all of
you!
Thank you to all who helped with this effort.

2006-2007 Reflections Program Theme is
"My favorite place..."
Each year, the National PTA Reflections Program
recognizes outstanding student works. This year two
new categories have been added to bring the total
number of categories to six: literature, musical
composition, photography, visual arts, dance
choreography, and film/video production. This year's
theme is "My favorite place..." Participating students
should think about what the theme means to them,
and let their ideas and talent shine by creating an
original piece of artwork in one of the six categories.
Students may submit more than one project and
in more than one category. Projects are due
December 1-15 and can be dropped off in the main office. Entries will be judged on a local level the
following week. Winning entries in each category will
move on to the Wake County Council level for further
judging on January 9, 2007. To view last year's national
award recipients in the Reflections Program, visit
www.pta.org/reflections.
More information regarding student entry criteria and
forms will be placed on the PTA website. Before starting
your project, please check out the rules and entry
criteria. Please contact Heather McCollum if you have
any questions or if you would like to help with
this wonderful program at heathermccollum@nc.rr.com.
September 2006
Each year, the National PTA Reflections Program
recognizes outstanding student works in literature,
musical composition, photography, and visual arts.
This yearÕs theme is ÒMy Favorite Place.Ó Participating
students should think about what the theme means to
them, and let their ideas and talent shine by creating
an original piece of artwork in one of the four
categories.
This is a great opportunity for our students to work on
an independent project and take pride in creating
something all their own. Although projects aren't due
until December, now is a good time for parents to
encourage their kids to start thinking about the theme.
Entries will be judged on a local level in December.
Winning entries in each category will move on to the
Wake County Council level for further judging. To view

March 2005
Reflections Program results: The Turner Creek PTA would like to
congratulate the eight participants in the 2005-2006 National PTA
Reflections Program. The program was entirely voluntary, and each of
these entrants showed great initiative and creativity by completing their
independent project. Please join us in congratulating the following
students: Chloe Hasund (K), Adela Li (1st grade), Skye McCollum
(1st grade), Patrick Orlowski (2nd grade), Andrew Pritko (3rd
grade), Daniel Pritko (1st grade), Ella Rumsey (1st grade), and
Joshua Spiesman (K).
The following students won first and second place at the local level
(at TCE):
Primary Division (K-2)
- Literature: 1st place, Ella Rumsey; 2nd place, Adela Li
- Photography: 1st place, Skye McCollum
- Visual Arts: 1st place, Chloe Hasund; 2nd place, Joshua Spiesman
Intermediate Division (3-5)
- Literature: 1st place, Andrew Pritko
Eight entries moved on to the Wake County Council Level for further
judging. Unfortunately the competition was very high with only 20
projects total (out of all area elementary, middle and high schools) moving
on to further judging. Although none of our projects advanced, we are
still very proud of the great work effort our students put forth.
Please stop by the TCE media center to see the projects displayed. They
will also be displayed in a special area at Frogapolooza, where we will
honor each participant with a certificate of participation. We hope to see
even more participation next year. If anyone would like to help coordinate
this program in 2006-07, please contact Heather McCollum.
Reflections Program Results
December 2005
Deadline Approaching for 2005-2006 Reflections Program!
The National PTA's Reflections Program encourages children to
complete a voluntary, independent project in one of four categories:
literature, visual arts, photography or musical composition. All
participants will receive an award. Winners in each category will
advance to the Wake County Council level for further judging in
early January.
The theme for the 2005-2006 Reflections Program is "I Wonder
Why..." Projects must reflect the theme and must be created entirely
by the student.
Projects are being accepted in the TCE front office from Dec 2 through
Dec 16 (final submission date). For more information, rules and the
entry form, please go to the TCE PTA website or
contact Heather McCollum, PTA Reflections Chairperson. Help your children realize just
how much they can accomplish through this great opportunity for
self expression.
