Books to Go!

If your kids have not taken advantage of Books-to-Go, now is a great time to get started! The TCE Media Center has over 18,000 books just waiting to get into the hands of our students. Books-to-Go is easy to use. Students place a hold on the book(s) they would like to read using our online catalog, Destiny Discover (accessed through their WakeID Portal). Books can then be picked up and returned outside the Media Center (via the bus loop) on school days between 9:00-3:00.

Click the Books-To-Go! link below for more information. And please encourage your child to take advantage of this opportunity!

BOOKS TO GO!

Celebration Books

Turner Creek families can mark special occasions, such as a child’s birthday, by donating a book to the Media Center in your child’s name. Donating a book is a very special way to honor your child while promoting a love of reading and supporting the Turner Creek Media Center. If you would like to participate in this program, you can fill out this online form.

Close to your child's birthday, they will be invited to choose a new book which will be added to the Media Center collection. A personalized bookplate will be placed inside the front cover to commemorate your child’s special occasion and be seen by future readers. Your child will then be the first to check out the book. We hope you will take part in this meaningful program!

Wake County Public Library Information
The Wake County Public Libraries has quite a few new readers services to share with our students to help you find books you will enjoy reading.

The library system also has reading lists for specific grades available on our website.

And, for parents and students that do not have a library card to the Wake County Public Library system, it is quick and easy to do-so on our website.

Here is a list of Wake County Library resources:
  1. Self-Register for a library card online
  2. Youth Book Lists: These are reading lists that have been curated by our youth librarians in Wake County Public Libraries. There are graded book lists as well as lists for readalikes of popular series.
  3. Custom Book Lists: Parents and students can fill out this form to receive a list in their library account of 8-10 titles that have been suggested based on their reading interests. Then, they can either download the titles to a device (if they are available in e-book format) or request them for pickup at their library.
  4. Express Book Bags: If parents would prefer to pick-up a bag of hand-selected titles in person, they can fill out this form to request items that will be chosen based on their child's reading interests.

All of this information is also under the reading tab on our website: wakegov.com/libraries.
